Homemade Organic Eye Makeup Remover–Only 2 Ingredients!

I have never really been one to use eye makeup remover.  I usually would just wash my face and slap on moisturizer, then use a tissue + whatever moisturizer was on my face to swipe away the smudges.  But, as I am getting older, I really want to be more gentle with the sensitive skin around my eyes, and scrubbing off smudges just is not gentle.

I was excited to have Pot Holes & Pantyhose link up her DIY Organic Eye Makeup Remover at Anti-Procrastination Tuesday.  It is a simple, 2- ingredient, super pure and healthy recipe.  I made it myself and I am loving it!  Not only does it remove my eye make up beautifully, but it moisturizes the fragile skin around my eyes with wonderful, gentle organic ingredients.  I LOVE IT!

I found this little bottle at my local heath food store.  Same with the Almond Oil.  I have been finding all kinds of fun DIY beauty recipes that I will be trying, so in the future I am planning on using Mountain Rose Herbs as my one stop shop for organic ingredients and containers.

Mountain Rose Herbs. A herbs, health and harmony c

They carry all kinds of essential oils and butters.  They also have almond oil.  They have a wonderful reputation, so I feel very confident sharing their store with you all!

Potholes and Pantyhose has the breakdown of the cost of this.  Let’s just say it is super cheap, especially compared to similar products in the store.  I am excited to have Almond Oil on hand as I am stumbling upon some great recipes that use it.  More to come!

Just FYI: It doesn’t take off waterproof mascara. I have yet to find a DIY eye makeup remover that does… This would be great for regular mascara, though!

So great to find this simple and healthy recipe! Do you know if it removes “waterproof” mascara? I’ve used coconut oil and it really doesn’t take it off. Thank you!

I made something similar, but I use a combo of argan, camellia, avocado, and sesame oils. My skin loves it, but it is more expensive.

The bottle should be sealed tightly so no acid is coming out.

@Maura not sure if almond oil is specific to the recipe. If I find anything, I will post it in these comments..

@Jen-right now I am using a facial scrub called “yes to tomatoes” 🙂 I am running low and eager to try a couple homemade ideas. The oatmeal was one I was going to try, but it doesn’t sound to fun after reading your comment!

I love MRH – they’re such a great value. If you go in with a friend, their gallon of coconut oil is a fantastic deal.
After you wipe off your eye makeup, then what do you do? Wash the rest of your face with a face wash? I tried someone’s DIY facewash made with ground oats and although it sounded nice, I kept getting all the oats in the hair around my face. That was enough of that!

since i have both grapeseed and olive oil in the house i’m curious if this combo would be ok instead of buying almond oil as one more ingredient? or is there something in particular about almond oil that works?
